After you’ve agreed to the terms and conditions by paying,, we can talk about the fun stuff like the location for your session. Apart from studio shoots, any location that is special to you, interests you, or somehow represents your personality is a perfect place to shoot.
“What should I wear!?”
SOLO’s: It’s best to bring along both dressy and more casual outfits so you have a good variety. Try wearing neutral colors with small pops of color in your accessories and maybe avoid wearing too bright of colors and patterns all over. Neutral colors are timeless and fashionable. Overall, wear something that represents who you are and something that you like to wear.
FAMILIES: Dressing for family photos is about coordinating, not necessarily matching. Choose 2-4 colors, some neutral, some brighter, and mix and match them among family members. If you need help on this, Pinterest is a great place full of ideas and information. Don’t hesitate to use it.
COUPLES/ENGAGEMENT: Like family photos, it’s about coordinating. With engagement and couple’s sessions, you’ll probably want two or three outfits, some dressy and some casual. Choose something you would normally wear that represents your personalities and love.
Please come wearing your first outfit when you arrive at the shoot so we can spend more of the shoot time actually shooting rather than on wearing your fits.
I shoot both on location and at my home studio. With that being said, I prefer to shoot a mix of both candid and posed photos. When we meet for your session, we’ll dive right in. I’ll do my best to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I will suggest some poses for you to try. If you’re a couple, I’ll make you kiss, hold each other and a few other moves. Be prepared :).
The first half of the session, I generally try to get more candid, natural shots and some posed shots. If your session type allows for an outfit change, you’ll change outfits and we’ll begin again. During this part of the session, we’ll try to get more posed shots (the one Grandma wants on her wall). If your session allows for multiple locations, we’ll drive to the new location.
Always know that if the session goes into overtime for reasons such as bad weather, long distances between locations, or other delays that are my fault, there is no cost to you.
All I ask is that you are on time. Being late will cut into our valuable shooting time and cut down on your final selection of images.
When the session is over, I’ll go and upload your RAW images onto my computer, then I will also save the images onto an external hard drive and send them out to you as jpeg files to select the number of photos I will edit according to the package you chose.
While editing, I may post some sneak peaks of the photos on my social media. Then I will continue to edit the rest of your photos. During the editing process, I will keep with my normal style of editing – the style that you booked me for. Some things I will never do to your images – selective coloring, heavy vignettes, extreme photoshopping of bodies to make people look younger, thinner, etc., sepia tone, or crazy saturation levels.
After I am finished editing, I will send your final images through we.transfer or google drive. I will send you the link via email. Once I know that you have seen your photos, I will showcase your photo session on my Instagram and other social media sites. I love seeing the excitement from family and friends as they get to see your pictures!
I also do photo prints and would love to print some of your photos at a fee. These prints will last long and have greater quality than those ordered at 1-hr photo booths in drug stores.
I hope reading this has fully prepared you for your photography session! Looking forward to capturing you.
